What does Springfield Christian Church do for the community?

Where does the denomination stand on social issues?

We believe that God calls all people to feed the hungry, help the needy, and work for peace and justice. We recognize that this can take many, many forms. We encourage each other to stand up for what is right, but historically the denomination has intentionally refrained from taking a position on politicized issues out of respect for the theological diversity of our members. Instead we remain focused on that which we have in common — belief in Jesus Christ.

How does a person get involved?

Everyone is welcome to participate in any church activity. Current information on what’s happening at the church can always be found on our website, in our church bulletin, and in our bi-weekly newsletter. If you need more assistance, you can call the church and speak with the pastor. She will be glad to help you find a way to use your gifts and to grow in your spiritual life.

What are the specific Steps to Membership?

Membership in Springfield Christian Church requires from you a belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and your desire to serve Christ and God in the body of Christ known as Springfield Christian Church. As we stated in the "Theological Orientation" section, there is "no creed" but Christ. Three ways are available to you to become a member:

  • Confession of Faith
“Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and proclaim him Lord and Savior of your life?” For those joining Springfield Christian Church from other communities of faith, we accept other forms of baptisms as valid and meaningful. If you have not made your Confession of Faith in another congregation or denomination, your public profession unites with this Church and brings you into the Body of Christ worldwide. Following your Confession of Faith, steps will be undertaken for your Baptism.
  • Transfer of Membership
You may transfer your membership by stating to the Minister you wish to now be a participating member of Springfield Christian Church. A letter of transfer is mailed to your previous church.
  • Associate Membership
Your Church membership may be in another congregation, but you wish to be a participating member of Springfield Christian Church. Associate Membership permits you to retain your membership in the previous church while also holding full membership status here. When you leave your membership is relinquished.
