Belief
What We Believe:
Springfield Christian Church places Jesus the Christ at the center of our worship, theology, and service.
- No Creed but Christ: The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) maintains that There is no creed but Christ for individual members. By this we mean
there are no doctrinal positions a person must have in order to worship, serve in, and belong to Springfield Christian Church, other than the avowed relationship
of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Spiritual Journey and Growth: We encourage individual Christian growth and maturation, within the confines of the community at large. We encourage you to be in the
process of determining what and how you think, to be in conversation with others in Springfield Christian Church, to be a teacher and to be taught. We freely preach
the Bible as the living Word of God, open and available to everyone. We emphasize Biblical literacy for all members and encourage personal and group study.
- Baptism is by immersion of those making a confession of faith. For those joining Springfield Christian Church from other communities of faith, we accept other forms of
baptisms as valid and meaningful. We observe the Lord's Table each Sunday in worship, finding there the center of our weekly worship experiences. All believers in worship
are invited to partake of the elements of Communion and to join us in the symbolic sharing of the body and blood of Christ.
- Egalitarian: Our oneness in Christ stressed by the Apostle Paul is maintained: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither male or female; for you are
all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28).
- Members and friends of this congregation, male or female, are encouraged to be leaders. Our Boards of Elders and Deacons comprise both
men and women, and we all are considered children of God in honor and with responsibility.
- Ecumenical efforts are encouraged and sought. Springfield Christian Church is a member of the Ministerial Association of Springfield and seeks to be a part of the Church of Jesus Christ worldwide.
