Child Care, Youth, Adult Church School & Choirs
At SCC, we recognize the responsibility of providing our children and youth opportunities for their own spiritual growth and maturity. The attempt has been made to provide classes and opportunities for every age group. If you would like more information on any of the following programs, please call the church office at 703-354-4994.
Crib Nursery (Babies & Toddlers under 3) Room 6
The nursery is staffed from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Nursery (ages birth and up to 5) Room 2
A regular nursery staff of Jennifer, Amy and Flash, provide a safe and loving place for children to play, rest and learn. During the Sunday School hour, staff offer stories to those present and during worship they attend the Children's sermon in worship and are provided a light snack.
Kindergarten–Grade 2, Room 9
This class uses the Bible Quest curriculum and study stories from the Old and New Testaments. Seasonal emphases mixed with drama, music, crafts and games make the stories interesting and personally relevant to the children. The teacher is Madelynn Arnold.
Grades 3–5, Crown Room
This class uses the Grapple curriculum that allows for interaction and continued learning at home and with parents via the web. It emphasizes making learning relevant and teaching action based on biblical concepts. The teachers are Kevin & Lisa Hopkins.
Sonshine Choir
For all children ages 3-5 (non-readers). The choir practices every Sunday at 9:30AM, Spetember thru May, in the Nursery. The goal is to develop a desire to sing to the Lord, both within and outside the worship environment. The choir sings in worship when they are prepared. The Director is Connie Warasila.
Joyful Noise Choir
For children in grades 1-5 (readers). The choir sings about once a month in worship and rehearses every Sunday after worship from September thru May in the Chapel. The goal of this choir is to develop each child's singing skills and confidence. The Director is Rob Simmons
