  • Food Ministry
Several years ago, we started a Food Distribution Ministry every Thursday. After getting the program initially
established, we look to God to help us grow in this ministry. We pray daily for having enough food to provide
and we pray also have many volunteers to help distribute food. Also we pray for those in need to meet and get food.
God heard our prayers, helped guide us in our expansion of this program and in 2014 the program actually grew!

During the past year, the program almost quadrupled to 12,264 people and fed!

Can you believe it? Our little church in Springfield, Virginia fed more than 12,000 people a year!! Indisputably is a blessing
from God to help so many people!!!

In January 2015, we have supplied nearly 3,000 people. And we had an average of 20 volunteers to help distribute this food!
These volunteers are people from each of our congregations as well as children, adults and families of those who are receiving food.

Our volunteers are a great blessing to this Ministry and we have a lot of fun together!

We collect items for Christmas Stockings and presents for all ages and host a Christmas party

School Supplies & Baby Item collections
We collect school supplies & distribute them to the community children.  Baby items are also collected for community families

    jobs on the internet.

    Blood Drive
For many years SCC has included in its community mission participating with INOVA Blood Services for blood drives.

Recently, SCC has alternated with Saint John’s United Methodist Church in hosting semi-annual IVOVA visits to the
two churches. In an effort to expand this program for the community, SCC and Saint John’s have reached out to Saint Mark’s
Lutheran Church, at 5800 Backlick Road, to expand this component of our community mission. We hope the cooperation of
the three churches will increase our ability to provide ͞-the gift of life - to all our neighbors.

The annual calendar for the blood drives will be posted as part of our out-reach website and advertised locally

    Christian Womens Fellowship (Deborah Circle)
On the third Thursday of each month (except July and August) Deborah Circle women meet together in the Parlor
for lunch at 11:30. We each bring a lunch with a drink, with the hostess providing dessert.  The hostess also prepares and
presents a brief devotion.  We have a short business meeting as we are usually planning ahead our meetings and altruistic
endeavors.  Currently we are providing assistance to a church  member who is in assisted living.  In the past we have helped
children living in poor areas of our country who needed financial assistance.  Usually our December meeting is in someone's home
and our June meeting is at a local restaurant.
